Bye bye energy wasting fridge
| See ya later, refrigerator |
Today we said goodbye to our "1950s - give or take 5 years" refrigerator. We were fortunate to be offered a 1990s used refrigerator for $100, which is all we can afford right now (one day I hope to have enough spare cash to get all energy star appliances). My husband called up Rocky Mountain Power to recycle our refrigerator ( link here ) and they claim that 90 percent of the refrigerator will be reused.
In addition, we will receive a $40 check for turning in the old fridge in the mail in 4 to 6 weeks. The nice young men also gave us a box from Rocky Mountain Power that contained two compact fluorescent lightbulbs (we'll be able to use them as gifts for the upcoming holidays ), a refrigerator/freezer thermometer, and an home energy savings guide.
